The End Of The Beginning
In borrowing this title from Churchill (or Becker, or Sabbath), one is afforded a degree of closure. A logo, a gift from the design god himself (shout out to Hidgkinson), has been developed. First burdensome weight: lifted. Early doubts: assuaged. This is big (BIG; super big).
One door closes, the next, more robust and seemingly immovable, stands locked in front of us. Hey, Emerson encouraged us to “be [an] opener(s) of doors”, and Dickens reassured us that “a very little key will open a very heavy door.” Literary precedents established, let’s crack on.
Some stages of the (dreaded) crotch blowout…and repair. Thanks for the great stitch, Helen.
In The Beginning…
…a logo was required. Well, a logo and some names in an eye-catching font; but not just any eye-catching font. No. This eye-catching font had to be subtle and simple in its appeal. (Kinda defeats the purpose, right? Stay with me). It had to be eye-catching and appealing because of its subtlety. Elegant. Classic. And the logo. The logo had to be instantly identifiable and infinitely uncomplicated. That so-overt-it’s-covert sort of recognisable.
Man, creating a brand identity is hard. Why is all this design business so tricky? Why is the simple stuff the most difficult to come up with? Luckily, I have a Hidge up my sleeve…

Boo, Kyrie Irving MVP. Boooooo.
NBA ASG 2014 - Prelim Notes
Funky-fresh medley: Pharrell Williams (that hat, man. The great Grammy talking point gets a dose of French Quarter flair), Nelly, Diddy, Busta, Snoop. Buzzing.
Anthems for zoomed youth: Serena Ryder’s rendition of O Canada has grit and passion. Nice. Gary Clark, Jr. is ripping a bluesy, slide heavy national anthem that’s so appropriate for NoLa. HendrixWHAT. Massive.
Lots of vibrant colour - sneaks, steez, beads, jerseys.
Players I’m happy to see: Wall, Lillard, Davis, Melo, Harden.
Players I’m indifferent towards: Wade, Howard, Johnson, Irving.
